I… don’t remember 2005 November 28 16:20
Posted by diamond in : Cycling , add a commentPretty much everything in the last week is a blur. I know i’ve been sleeping a lot (~14 hours saturday night). I know i worked on saturday. I know i’ve cycled about 131km last week (and my speedo tells me i broke my record again, 8min 32s). And that’s pretty much it.
Cycling, good. Rest, not so. 2005 November 26 1:15
Posted by diamond in : Cycling, Random, Work , add a commentI went to see my gp yesterday. We had a long chat about my current situation. She told me to give the doses of medication a month to stabilise. In the meantime, i’m not capable of working productively. I sent mikael, my boss, an email last night explaining the situation, and saying that i was going to have to take some time off, and apologised for the lack of notice. Mikael replied, and rang me as well. He has been extremely understanding, for which i am deeply grateful.
In slightly less major news, the gp also prescribed me a second course of eye drops, these ones being much less awkward. They don’t require refridgeration, and only have to be taken twice a day. Here’s hoping the eye infections are gone in the next few days.
My parents came down to limerick to visit me today, which was really nice of them. It was good to see them. I took them to the wild onion, ruth told them i was a nazi in the kitchen, much to their amusement. I couldn’t really protest too much. I have a very specific system worked out, and happily direct people as to how they should follow it. It works out well -)
Went for a cycle with conal last night. He did two laps with me (about 16km in total) and was considering doing a third, but was worried his legs might cramp up again so decided not to push it. Me, i stayed on for another 3 laps (30km in total, 25.3kmph average). I surprised myself greatly by, in a strong wind, beating my previous record by _another_ 10 seconds (8m 43s, for a ~4km lap). I’m wondering if the recent improvements are related to the drink mix i was recommended by mark (1/2 water, 1/2 apple juice, pinch of salt). I’m going for another cycle tomorrow after work, with dan, conditions permitting. Yay for the sanity and simplicity of exercise.
*Update*
Just realised the title is a very clever word play. I wonder if i get points even though it was unintentional. Comments?
At least today wasn’t a complete washout 2005 November 23 19:57
Posted by diamond in : Cycling , add a commentI went for a cycle with dan (25km @ 23.6kmph), pushed all the way around on the last lap (about 4km) and beat my previous best time by 47 seconds, which makes me happy. I was doing 30kmph+ for about 90% of the lap, which is excellent for me. Other than that, the day has passed in a haze.
Apparently, no. 2005 November 22 22:26
Posted by diamond in : Random , add a commentSo, today i realised that i’m not in a fit state to drive. Was driving into college, as i had a couple of meetings i had to go to. On the way, going around a corner, back of the car slipped sideways a little. I was a bit surprised, as i wasn’t going that fast. It was cold, and foggy, and the road surface must have been slippy. Normally i’d be aware of that, but wasn’t today. Then, about 2 minutes later, i completely misjudged a situation and pulled out in front of a van which was doing about 60kmph. Not Good. The van driver managed to swerve into the other lane, avoiding anything serious, but it was at that point i realised that i shouldn’t have driven. Parked the car in college, walked home afterwards. Until either a) my body adjusts to the new dose of sedatives, or b) it’s clear that it’s not going to, i’m not going to be able to retrieve it.
Tomorrow i’m going to my gp, as advised by the consultant, and i’ll talk to him about things. I wonder what he’ll have to say.
