According to plan, i went to college on thursday and friday, from about 10:30 till 2. It went surprisingly well. I was able to cope with people, and went out of my way a few times to be sociable, all in the name of a grand experiment ,-) I slept pretty well on wednesday and thursday nights too.

On friday i went back to see my gp, about my eyes. She was rather disappointed the last treatment hadn’t worked, and said she’d try one more before sending me to a dermatologist if it doesn’t work. She prescribed me a mountain of pills. I’ll try list below what i’ve been on for the last few days:

Friday: 60mg amitriptyline (tri-cyclic anti-depressant), 1250mg augmentin-duo (antibiotic), 10mg zirtek (antihistamine), 25mg prednisolone (steroid).
Saturday: 60mg amitriptyline (tri-cyclic anti-depressant), 1250mg augmentin-duo (antibiotic), 10mg zirtek (antihistamine), 20mg prednisolone (steroid).
Sunday: 60mg amitriptyline (tri-cyclic anti-depressant), 1250mg augmentin-duo (antibiotic), 10mg zirtek (antihistamine), 15mg prednisolone (steroid).
Monday: 60mg amitriptyline (tri-cyclic anti-depressant), 1250mg augmentin-duo (antibiotic), 10mg zirtek (antihistamine), 10mg prednisolone (steroid).

It really does seem like it’s getting silly. Anyway. The gp suspects the eye infections might be caused by an allergy. I have to go get blood samples taken during the week, and it’s getting tested for allergies to feathers, pollen, grass, cats and dogs. I reckon feathers is probably the best bet. I have a feather duvet for the last year or so, and started getting eczema during the summer. Apparently it can take up to a year for allergies to show up. I’ve switched back to a polyester duvet for the moment to see if that helps.

One of the downsides of the above medication regieme is that the antibiotics upset my stomach. I was on them a few years back, after being in hospital when this whole mess started, and i had to be really careful not to exert myself in the mornings as it would cause me to throw up. Bruce has prescribed me some probiotic drinks as he had some quite serious experience with similar antibiotic-killing-stomach issues last spring when he was in the states. I was just about to head into work this morning when i realised that the effort from walking or cycling in was highly likely to cause problems. Ug. At least i’m up and about.
