The Frames live at the Lowry, Salford Quays
Saw the above last night. I’ve been trying to see The Frames live for a long time, and the Quays Theatre was an excellent venue for them. Playing some new tracks from The Cost, along with a large number of older favourites, the crowd was responsive but not as rowdy as they could have been. I suspect have a fully-seated venue contributed to this. I dragged five friends along, most of whom hadn’t heard anything by them before that evening, and all loved it.
Glen Hansard’s singing was amazingly accurate and consistent, with a stunning range, and ably assisted by all the other band members. The unchallenged highlight of the evening was the final encore, a rendition of Star, Star performed whilst all the band members were lying flat on their backs (the drummer put his feet up on the bass drum) staring at the ceiling (gazing at the stars, dumbass ;o) ). Wouldn’t have missed it for anything. Nice one.
